Privacy Policy
Last updated 13 June 2026
This policy explains how AirTrader (airtrader.co.uk) collects, uses and protects your personal data, and the rights you have under UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018). It applies to visitors, account holders, sellers and buyers.
Who we are
AirTrader is the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. AirTrader is operated by [legal company name], registered office [registered address], ICO registration number [to be completed]. You can contact us about privacy through our contact page.
Information we collect
We collect:
- Account data — your name, email address and password (stored only as a secure hash), and, for brokers, company name and location.
- Listing data — the details, specifications and photographs you submit for an advert.
- Enquiry data — the messages, name, email and phone number you provide when you contact a seller or us.
- Payment data — advertising-fee payments are processed by Stripe. We receive confirmation of payment and limited transaction details; we do not store your full card number.
- Technical and usage data — IP address, device and browser information, and basic analytics about how the site is used, collected via cookies and similar technologies.
How we use your information
We use your personal data to:
- create and manage your account and publish your adverts;
- take payment for advertising and provide receipts;
- pass enquiries between buyers and sellers;
- operate, secure, maintain and improve the site;
- respond to your questions and provide support; and
- comply with our legal obligations and prevent fraud or misuse.
Our lawful bases are: performance of a contract with you; our legitimate interests in running and improving a secure marketplace; your consent (for example, optional cookies or marketing); and compliance with legal obligations.
Sharing your information
We share personal data only where necessary, with:
- Stripe, our payment processor, to take advertising payments;
- our hosting and infrastructure providers, who store and serve the site and database on our behalf;
- other users — for example, when you send an enquiry, the seller receives your message and contact details;
- professional advisers, and authorities or regulators where required by law.
We do not sell your personal data. Third-party suppliers listed in our directory are independent; if you contact them, your dealings are governed by their own privacy policies.
Cookies
We use cookies and similar technologies that are necessary for the site to function (such as keeping you signed in) and, where applicable, optional cookies for analytics. You can control cookies through your browser settings; blocking essential cookies may affect how the site works.
How long we keep your data
We keep account and listing data for as long as your account is active, and afterwards only as long as needed for the purposes in this policy or to meet legal, accounting or reporting requirements. Payment records are retained as required by law.
International transfers
Some of our providers may process data outside the UK. Where they do, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as adequacy regulations or standard contractual clauses) to protect your data.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to access your personal data; to have it corrected or erased; to restrict or object to its processing; to data portability; and to withdraw consent at any time where we rely on it. To exercise any of these rights, please contact us.
You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk, though we would welcome the chance to address your concerns first.
Security
We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data — including encrypted connections and securely hashed passwords. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and to respond appropriately to any incident.
Children
AirTrader is not intended for children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The version on this page is the current one, and we will update the “last updated” date when changes are made.
